Practicing proper home care usually help keep acne under control. However, if you cannot achieve the desired results with their home care, I would strongly recommend seeking advice from an aesthetician or dermatologist. When you visit an expert, a proper consultation must be done followed by a home care routine. In order to see results, there must be commitment to the routine in order to see great results.

The following are general guidelines for people with acne. My hope is that it helps you establish a routine that is easy to adopt. Before I list out the routine, it is important to note that this routine does not take into account different variables like diet, lifestyle, general health etc. which could greatly impact acne condition. This is basically to serve as a starting point for those who are suffering from acne but do not have a routine and don’t know where to start. For personalized routine, you can leave a comment and I will do my best to answer.

Home care will include a cleanser, and exfoliant, toner, oil free hydrating moisturizer, SPF and a mask.

First make sure you use products with ingredients that is non-irritating or you are not allergic to any ingredient in the products.

1.       CLEANSER : Use a cleanser daily preferably a cleanser with an exfoliant like AHA, Salicylic or benzoyl peroxide.

2.       TONER : Use a soothing toner to help balance skin’s ph., calm down, control oil or kill bacteria.

3.       TREAT: apply a treatment serum on affected area containing either AHA or benzoyl peroxide.  Please note never to use both exfoliant at the same time. Use them at different times or days to prevent over drying your skin.

4.       MOISTURIZE: Finish off with an oil free moisturizer or hydrating moisturizer.

5.       SUNSCREEN: Use a sunscreen to balance and protect from UVA and UVB rays.

6.       MASK: A mask can be used up to twice a week depending on the skin type.
