HYDRO BOOST HYDRATING CLEANSING GEL BY NEUTROGENA

HYDRO BOOST HYDRATING CLEANSING GEL BY NEUTROGENA

Neutrogena was founded in the 1930’s by Emmanuel Stolaraff. In 1994,it was acquired by Johnson and Johnson. It is one the most recognizable skincare brands in the world with diverse beauty products. The hydro boost line is the recent addition; these products tout increase hydrations for dry, parched and tired skin at an affordable price; sounds good but does it really work? I tested this product for a little over a month and hoped it would give me the results claimed but it fell short ?.

HYDRO BOOST HYDRATING CLEANSING GEL BY NEUTROGENA (CLAIM)

This lightweight gel transforms a lather that takes away lather that effectively lifts away dirt, oil, and makeup. With hyaluronic acid, the formula is clinically proven to increase skin’s hydration level and lock it in, leaving skin refreshingly clean and supple.

 ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

COCAMIDOPROPYL HYDROXYSULTAINE: It is a mild surfactant which is commonly found in skincare and hair care products.  It is gives a mild cleansing action so it is less likely to dry out skin or cause adverse reactions.

GLYCERIN: excellent skin softener and humectant

SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE: a mild, high foaming surfactant.

HYLARONIC ACID: Hyaluronic acid is one skincare ingredient that should be a part of every skincare routine especially if you are in your 30’s like me and want to have a fighting chance against wrinkles.  Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your body. It plays a critical role in healthy skin; by controlling physical characteristics of the epidermis cells. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water which allows the skin to achieve greater suppleness and elasticity.

HOW TO USE IT

PM

This is a water based cleanser so I used it only in the PM as my second cleanse following my Tach pure camellia cleansing oil. I would apply a pump in my palm, apply it on damp skin and cleanse.

AM

I didn’t really use this in the A.M. but for review purposes I used it in the morning as my only cleanse using the same process as I did in the P.M

CONCLUSION

PRO

·         Price. This is a reasonable priced cleanser.

·         Nice packaging

·         No serious reactions to this product

 CONS

·         Not hydrating at all. Based on the name and the claim, I bought this bottle with the expectation that it would leave my skin hydrated, I guess I expected too much. Looking at the ingredient list, hyaluronic acid is listed last which means there is little present in this formulation.

·         Fragrance. There is a strong presence of a marine fragrance hence the name hydro but in my personal opinion it was not necessary. It was a little overwhelming and to be honest a put off for me. I was also concerned about it being an irritant to the skin.

·         In place of harsher surfactant, COCAMIDOPROPYL HYDROXYSULTAINE was one of the ingredients used to create mild foaming. As mention above it is used in soap and beauty products but there is minimal information out about interaction of this product. I would recommend that people with sensitive /reactive skin exercise caution when using this product.

I would love if you could share your experience with this product. Did you love it? Please leave a comment below.  Thank you and Stay blessed.
