KATE SOMERVILLE GOAT MILK MOISTURIZING CLEANSER

Kate Somerville is one of my favorite skincare lines. The brand was formulated by Kate Somerville who grew up with several skin concerns like psoriasis and eczema so she decided to create a brand that would address these issues as well as cater to the needs of people who did not feel comfortable in their skin. Over the years, I have used quite a few products from this line and have had nothing but great results with this brand. This summer, they launched a couple new products one of them was the Goat milk moisturizing cleanser and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it especially because I am a huge fan of the goat’s milk moisturizing cream. The goat milk moisturizing cleanser didn’t meet up to my expectations. To be honest, it is not a bad cleanser but let’s just say it fell short in a few departments.

WHAT IS KATE SOMERVILLE GOAT MILK MOISTURIZING CLEANSER?

A non-foaming moisturizing cleanser that is a cross between a gel cleanser and an oil balm cleanser. It is formulated for dry and sensitive skin. it removes all dirt and impurities without stripping the skin. It is a really gentle formula that emulsifies on contact with water.A

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

MANUKA HONEY – it is nectar of the Manuka tree found in New Zealand. It has antibacterial properties and it contains hydrogen peroxide. It is anti-aging, healing, acne fighting and hydrating.

LACTOSE FROM GOATS MILK- derived from goats milk it gives a smooth feel to the skin. It is well absorbed by the skin giving it a gloss.

HOW TO USE IT

I usually use this as a second cleanse of my double cleansing routine.

Squeeze a little in your palm, massage it on your face until the cleanser melts into skin leaving behind oily residue. I emulsify with warm water (basically taking a little water in my palm and rubbing the cleanser on my face. It turns into a milky substance and a massage my skin) I immediately wipe off with a warm face cloth.

I use my toner, essence, treatment and moisturizer

CONCLUSION

Pro:

• Because it’s sulfate free it does not strip the skin


• It leaves your skin feeling moisturized

Cons

• When I  started using the cleanser, it was smooth and it melted really quickly on your skin on application but about 5 weeks into testing, the cleanser became very clumpy, it would fall into pieces and just create a mess.


• Because the cleanser was clumpy, lead to a lot of waste while it was trying to massage into my skin


• It became very difficult to squeeze out of the tube

 

Kate Somerville is still one of my favorite lines and I truly wanted to love everything about it but that is not the case. I think the ingredients are great but maybe the formulation needs to be reversed or it was just my luck I got one from a bad batch. My hope is the brand would review the formula and maybe then I would definitely give it a try.
