Krème Chats with Dabota Lawson is the founder of the Billionaire Wife Limited, CEO of Dabota Cosmetics and Dabota Water. She is hardworking, intelligent and a humble woman. The former beauty queen is the embodiment of beauty and brains. I have known her since we were kids growing up. I am proud of my Kalabari sister (Ijaw tribe in Rivers State Nigeria) and all that she has accomplished in the beauty industry. Mbra (my sister), keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your skincare journey with us.
Being in the beauty industry and the public eye, do you feel pressure to keep your skin looking healthy?
Of course, lots of pressure. A lot of people look up to me and I owe it to them to keep up with appearances especially being in the beauty industry.
What is your skin type?
I've got sensitive skin.
At what age did you begin to take care of your skin?
Taking care of my skin is a huge part of my daily routine, as my skin overall is really sensitive. Good personal hygiene is something that was taught to me from when I was a baby, and that process has been evolving into so many other routines growing up. My passion for the beauty industry has also taken me on so many interesting journeys, as I keep researching on new ways to improve my skin care routine.
How often should makeup brushes be washed and replaced?
Your makeup brushes should be washed at least twice a week. However, after every use it’s good to use a brush disinfectant to keep bacteria away. You could have serious skin irritation if you don't take care of your brushes.
How often do you replace your makeup?
It depends on what product. I’m a makeup lover and I make good use of my products; they run out really fast. It's hard to say how often I replace them.
Do you use SPF?
Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. I know I should though.
Is there SPF in Dabota foundation/make up?
No, we do not have SPF in our products.
Take me through your skincare routine AM and PM
Weekday routines are different from weekends.
During the week I'm super busy, so I do the basics in the morning and the evening.
But on the weekends I really take time out to treat my skin. I do a full body scrub with my home made mixtures for my body, steam and moisturize. For my face I do my facials (cleanse, steam, scrub, mask, massage, moisturize) to refresh my skin after a long week of wearing makeup and to get rid of all the fine lines caused by stress and air pollutions.
In the evening I cleanse and shower and heavily moisturize.
Weirdest beauty treatment you have ever done
I find the Brazilian body wrap really weird. I like the results, but I'm not a fan of the process.
Favorite Spa and spa treatments
I love massages and going into a Steam capsule.
Your I can't live without skincare product (just one)
I can't live without my face cream…
Can't live without makeup product
I can't live without my whole makeup box. Lol
What is beauty to you?
Beauty is skin deep with a whole lot of makeup on it. Lol
Whose beauty inspires you?
Omotola Jalade E, a Nigerian actress whose beauty is timeless.
How would you describe yourself in one word?
Daring
