KRÈME CHATS WITH LOLA RAE. SINGER AND DANCER.

KRÈME CHATS WITH LOLA RAE. SINGER AND DANCER.

Lola Rae is a talented afro-pop singer, dancer and first lady of DMW (Davido Music Worldwide). I am a fan of her work; one of my favorite is her recent track called "one time", which had an afro reggae tone vibe. Besides loving her work, I was blown away by her humility and polite nature. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with  and I am so grateful that she shared her time. Thank you Lola Rae.

Tell me a little about yourself

I started my career in entertainment while in the United Kingdom. I was part of a dance group called Myztikal and we decided to take part in a  competition called Britain’s Got Talent. We wanted to switch things up so instead of just being a dance group we implemented singing and I was one of the singers chosen. At the time, I didn’t know I could sing so it was pretty risky business (laughs) but it paid off and we made it to the semifinals. We were signed to Simon Cowell for two years, and after that I started my music career. So, it was about five years ago I really started music.

How important is skincare?

I think skincare is really important. Your skin is one of the first things people see when they meet you. It is very important as an artist; you wear a lot of makeup while on set, in videos, in photoshoots. So, you really have to take care of the of the foundation otherwise your make up won’t sit well on your skin. For me skincare is really important.
What is your skin type?

Combination skin. My T zone is oily and the rest of the skin is quite dry.

Take me through your AM and PM routine

I use simple products. In the morning, I use a cleanser to wash my face, and I use a scrub in the morning, especially when I wore make up the night before. I use a mild toner, followed by a moisturizer, and finish off with a UV cream.

My PM routine is exactly the same as my AM routine except at night I use a richer moisturizer.

If you could use only one skincare product the rest of your life what would that be?

My night moisturizer

Favorite skin treatment you ever received and where

My favorite skincare treatment I received was when I visited the Clarins Spa in Mauritius. My skin was just glowing afterwards and looked like I didn’t have any pores; it was amazing.

Best music video in the world other than yours?

One of Beyoncé’s videos; I can’t pick just one. I love Beyoncé (laughs)
If you were not an entertainer what would you do?

If I was not an entertainer, I would definitely be involved in the music industry. Maybe song writing or something behind the scenes, but definitely still in the music industry.

If you could sing a duet with anyone living or dead who would that be?

Hmmmm… well living would have to be Rihanna. Dead, I’d say Micheal
Female Musical artists that has influenced you

It would have to be Tiwa Savage and Beyonce
Beauty is ....

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Whose beauty inspires you

I would say someone like Bonang Matheba; her beauty inspires me.
Best advice for a young girl who wants to be singer

Never give up! it is not the most talented person in the room that succeeds, it’s the most hardworking person. So, keep on keeping on.
One skin care tip

Never use baby wipes on your face. Always use makeup wipes, because baby wipes dry out your skin.
