SERUMS & EYE CREAMS

SERUMS & EYE CREAMS

Serums are my absolute favorite step in my routine. During this step, I can target any skin condition I may have plus I feel like a mad scientist trying and mixing different potions to find my magic elixir.  Below is a brief note about serums and benefits; I also included a summary of eye creams and their benefits.

WHAT IS A SERUM

Serums are products containing concentrated ingredients designed for effective penetration into the skin.

 BENEFITS

The benefits to the skin, depends on the condition of the skin and the ingredients used to address the condition.  For example, Retinol in serums may be used to address signs of aging, vitamin c can be used to address uneven skin tone and hyaluronic acid to address dryness.

As mentioned above generally the difference in the type of serum is based on the ingredient. Typically, these ingredients come in form of serums and ampoules.

Serums the are chemically formulated with smaller molecules that are able to penetrate deeper into the skin therefore they are more effective.  They are usually thin liquids, packaged in small bottles with a dropper.

Ampoules are usually small sealed vials, each containing a single application of highly concentrated extract in water or oil based. Just like serums, each ampoule is targeting a specific condition of the skin but the major difference is ampoules are extremely concentrated and come prepared measured so the right amount is applied to the skin.

 HOW TO USE SERUMS

After cleansing, exfoliation and toner, serums and ampoules are applied with finger tips under a mask or moisturizer.

 WHAT ARE EYE CREAM

The skin around the eyes are extremely thin, combined with squinting, smiling, blinking, stress and environmental impacts the area around your eyes are usually the first to show signs of aging so you should apply eye creams daily. EYE creams are moisturizer/creams formulated specifically to treat common conditions around the eye area.

BENEFITS OF EYE CREAMS

Firming

Protecting the thin layer of skin around the eyes

Some help reduce the appearance of dark circles

Reduces fine lines

Helps decrease puffiness

 HOW TO USE EYE CREAMS

In the AM and PM, apply a thin layer of eye cream under your eyes; going around your lower lids to the top of your cheek bone. When applying make sure you don’t apply a lot of pressure, do not pull or tug on your skin bearing in mind it is very delicate instead use your index finger and slowly tap the product into your skin until fully absorbed.

I welcome any questions or feedback on anything written or anything I may have omitted.  Thanks for reading.
