My love for skincare has no bounds, I am willing to test out most skincare products, techniques, treatments or trends within reason but I must admit when I came across snail mucin products in my K beauty discovery, I was a little turned off. Snail on my face; oh my!!!! I have seen snails in grass after a rainy day and some people eat snails but the thought of it on my face just sounded a little gross but in the back of my mind I was intrigued so I put on my research hat to find out why this ingredient was so great for the skin.
What is snail extract?
Snail extract fortified with a lot of ingredients that benefits the skin. It’s packed with hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and peptides. It stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and moisturizes the skin. In my research, I found out that snail extract has been used since the time of the Ancient Greeks. It was reported that crushed snails were used to relieve inflamed skin. The benefits were also noted by Chilean snail farmers who noticed their wounds healed quickly leaving behind no scars. These benefits have been noted among different cultures and the snail slime extract has been used in cosmetic products.
In 2010, Missha launched the super aqua cell renew snail cream with70 % snail extract infused in the product.

Double cleanse your face, tone, apply your essence then any treatments or serums. Take a generous amount of super aqua snail cream and massage it on your face and neck. Use your sunscreen afterwards if applied during the day. It can be used in the AM and PM.

This cream is super lightweight. When you apply it on your face, it feels like you splashed water on your skin.

Cons
Fragrance in skincare products is not everyone’s cup of tea. Personally I do not mind a little fragrance but this has a really strong scent. It fades away rather quickly but it hits you smack in the face so it is worth noting
CAUTION!!! Don’t let this get in your eyes or mouth because it stings and it taste vile. I didn’t lick it intentionally but in the process of applying it on my face, some got around my lips and it was not pleasant.
Missha Super aqua snail cream was my first introduction to the magic of snail slime extract in skincare product and it won’t be my last. I am now a believer.
